Bannisters Pavilion in Mollymook expands the hotel offering of the Bannisters group in the NSW South Coast town with Robert Plumb engaged to transform the exterior spaces of the new building. William Dangar’s landscape design cleverly blends tropical and exotic plants into the surrounding native bush. Cabbage Tree palms were placed along the façade to reduce the vertical scale of the building, while the lush under-planting combines screening hedges (Camellia and Viburnum) with native grasses and shrubs. The main floor, or roof level, required low maintenance, low water plants. William Dangar chose hardy vines and aloes, which flower in winter, with planters and bespoke circular tables custom built for the project.
